Conference on Poetry Fellow Benjamin Garcia Wins 2019 Julia Peterkin Flash Fiction Contest

Screen-Shot-2018-08-08-at-7.57.22-PMBenjamin Garcia, the 2019 Conference on Poetry Fellow at the Frost Place, has recently won the 2019 Julia Peterkin Flash Fiction Contest, as announced by South 85 literary journal. Garcia’s flash fiction story, “Mourning Dove,” was selected by Marlin Barton. Read the article here.

Garcia’s first collection, Thrown in the Throat (Milkweed Editions, Fall 2020), was selected for the 2019 National Poetry Series by Kazim Ali. His work has recently appeared or is forthcoming in: The Missouri Review, American Poetry Review, New England Review, Kenyon Review, and Crazyhorse.  Garcia was the 2017 LatinX Fellow and the 2018 Poetry Seminar Fellow at the Frost Place.
