The Frost Place Recognizes Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month

Author spotlight: Sarah Audsley, Writing Program Coodinator at the Vermont Studio Center

Former Frost Place Assistant to the Director Sarah Audsley has reviewed two new books by Asian-American authors for the Green Mountains Review online blog Books in Conversation. The first is a debut poetry collection titled Bodega by Su Hwang (Milkweed, 2019), and the other is a book of essays focused on the real-world, pervasive experiences of prejudice aimed at Asian-Americans titled Minor Feelings by Cathy Park Hong (One World, 2020).

The reviews are insightful, personal, and intelligent, and they portray a real sensitivity for both the authors’ work and the over-arching concerns facing Asian-Americans. The Frost Place would like to congratulate Sarah for her ongoing work, both in poetry and in prose. Her clear vision about the lived experiences of Asian-Americans both in daily life and in written work is inspiring to read.

SARAH AUDSLEY has received support for her work from the Rona Jaffe Foundation and residencies from the Vermont Studio Center and the Banff Centre’s Writing Studio. She is a graduate of the MFA Program for Writers at Warren Wilson College.
