The Unexpected Poetry Project

Each year, Nina Schafer hands out 12,000 poems to unsuspecting strangers. Nina’s “Unexpected Poetry Project” has blossomed since its conception 4½ years ago, and has become a part of her daily routine. Poems are given to people all over the Philadelphia area, printed on brightly colored paper and folded-in-fourths.

Today is Poem in Your Pocket Day, but Nina celebrates this year round. Click here to learn more about her project and its impact on those who have received some of her unexpected poetry.

Nina is a longtime friend of The Frost Place, and currently serves on the Board of Trustees.
